Since our hotel in Montego Bay was very close to the airport, we walked there in the morning with our luggage.
Once we arrived, we checked in our luggage, grabbed a bite to eat, and then departed as scheduled around 12:30 pm.
Since there is no direct flight from Montego Bay to Lima, we had a one-hour layover in Panama.
In the evening at 7:30 pm, we landed in Lima.
This time, we wanted to try something new. The day before, we contacted the owner of the hotel where we booked our first night and requested an airport pick-up service. The owner agreed and we were curious if someone would be waiting for us with a sign.
Of course, that was not the case...
Therefore, we took a taxi to our hotel for 25 USD and we asked the driver if he had change because we only had two 20 dollar bills.
After 45 minutes, we arrived at the hotel and gave our money to the driver. He gave us 40 soles (about 12 USD). Since we were prepared this time, we knew it was not enough and we wanted more change. However, the taxi driver didn't have any more change. So, we loaded everything back into the car and drove around the city for another 10 minutes so that he could get change. He was extremely upset, but we found it hilarious. Not with us!
Just like the taxi driver, the receptionist at the hotel barely spoke any English, but we finally made it to our room.
End of Day 1.
