Day 3: Vancouver

~ Monday, 15.10.18 ~

Hello there,

This morning, the first thing on the agenda was getting organized. That means getting a SIN number (something like a social insurance number that you need to work), a Canadian bank account, and a SIM card for my phone. Luckily, I met an Australian who happened to be doing the same thing. So we spent the morning going from one building to another. At one point, it looked like I would need to get a new phone because it wouldn't accept a Canadian SIM card, but fortunately, that turned out to be wrong. So everything I planned for the morning went smoothly :-)

In the afternoon, I walked back to Stanley Park, a huge park on a small peninsula right next to downtown. On the way there, I passed one of the many harbors here and several beaches. When I arrived at Stanley Park, it was starting to get dark. I walked past a lake where you had a beautiful view of the Vancouver skyline, and made my way to the meeting point where I was going to meet the English girl. Together, we visited a small adventure park (actually for kids) that was specially built for Halloween. There was a maze, several food stands, and a ghost train. This train rode through the park for 20 minutes in complete darkness, passing by small illuminated clearings where a little theater performance was always taking place. We took the bus back to the hostel because it was already getting dark and cold.
