Short trip to Frankfurt

19.4.-20.4.

One of my friends has been living in Frankfurt for some time now and now we have finally managed to go on a girls' trip there and visit her.

We set off on Friday after work. The 3-hour drive ended up taking a good 5 hours thanks to a lot of traffic jams, a breakdown and poor visibility due to the rain. None of this could dampen our good mood and happy spirits. When we finally arrived at 8 p.m., we cooked together and enjoyed the reunion.

On Saturday we explored Frankfurt. We took the S-Bahn from Rödelheim to the train station, walked along a large shopping street like you see in every city in Germany and looked at the (scaffolded) stock exchange. Then we strolled through a market, ate chips and looked around the old town. It really isn't big, but actually quite nice. Unfortunately we had typical April weather and it was pretty cold. That's why it wasn't that comfortable. Nevertheless, we did see the Römer, the town hall on a pretty town hall square, and the historic Paulskirche, which is definitely no longer a church today. That was really interesting because there are lots of information boards inside. We also sheltered ourselves from the rain in a large market building. We also saw the large squares Hauptwache, Konstabler Wache and Roßmarkt, but we skipped the Main because of the weather. I thought a house with a hole and a statue of Struwwelpeter were particularly cool. Instead we sat down in an iced café and enjoyed coffee and cake (we're getting old...) On the way back we had bright sunshine. Our next item on the agenda was a visit to a trampoline hall, which the girls had given me for my birthday 3 years ago. That was really fun! But afterwards we were all really exhausted. In the evening we took a quick trip to Kronberg, where we ate something and actually wanted to walk through the town and the Taunus, but the weather once again spoiled our plans. Unfortunately we then had to drive home again. We girls had a lot of fun as always, but when sleet and black ice made the journey a little more difficult just before we got home, at least I, the driver, was a little tense. Nevertheless, we arrived home safely and had had a wonderful girls' trip.
