Arrival

Uñt’ayata: 14.06.2019

The first intermediate stage has finally been reached. We stayed very well at Wiesbauern in Hopferau. But.....!

We left at half past nine with Ingrid. After two hours, we had a stop for my late breakfast with a coffee. But we are not just the two of us. Ayko and Louis, our two four-legged friends, are with us. Since Ingrid loves running with the dog, our break took a bit longer because Louis and Ingrid needed to stretch their legs.

Then we continued and Ingrid directed our vehicle towards Stuttgart. Then another stop, stretching our legs, giving water to the dogs, and off we went, but the first traffic jam got in our way. As we didn't really make progress, we took an exit and navigated our way through the countryside to Ulm using a map (we're both experts at that - grinning). At a rest stop, I quickly grabbed a sandwich, asked for directions, and continued. The landscape was beautiful with all the forests and mountains, but it was slow going and my GPS refused to show us the way on the country roads. After we finally left Ulm, with its beautiful old town behind us, we got back on the highway and thought our destination was almost in front of us when we approached the end of a traffic jam. All drivers formed an emergency lane, but that was it. There was no movement. After some time, we slowly started moving at a crawling pace and with many detours. You can't really say we made progress because it was only after an hour and three-quarters that we reached the next exit. And since it was a complete road closure (due to an accident), the two-lane queue merged and slowly advanced over the Memmingen exit. It remained this way until we bypassed the blocked section of the highway and finally got back on the highway, where we made faster progress. Now we could finally see the Alps and as always, the snow enchanted me. It's good that we both love nature so much and we excitedly showed each other the beautiful panorama!

Our destination finally got closer.

We arrived at half past eight in the evening and are very satisfied. Ingrid is now taking both dogs for a seemingly long walk and I am sitting on the balcony listening to the chirping of the crickets and the sound of cowbells, writing. It's so wonderful here that I could easily stay. The setting sun shines through the clouds onto the mountains, so our dinner with this magnificent view will surely taste particularly good. And here comes Ingrid back with the dogs and the sun is now a big yellow ball.

Tomorrow, we will hopefully go over the Fern Pass and the Timmelsjoch (thanks to Norbert's support) to our final destination. But we will already enjoy this evening!!!
