Uñt’ayata: 17.02.2020

In Cuzco, one must always expect heavy rain showers. Therefore, we like to take advantage of the dry or sunny periods to visit the beautiful main square 'Plaza de Armas'. During Inca times, the square was twice as big and covered with white Pacific sand. Elaborate solstice celebrations and presentations took place here. The conquerors used the square as a place of bloody executions. Today, parades and processions take place here, and we were lucky to witness such a colorful spectacle. In addition, we were able to admire the traditional costumes of various ethnic groups. With a few 'Werther's Original' candies from our candy bag, we comforted the tired children who had to sing, dance, play music or ride horses for hours😃. Colorful jelly was also very popular 😋🤣.
