Today on 01.10.20 we go to nearby Neubrandenburg. Today will be calmer. After two days of hiking, you can feel it in your feet.
The plan. We rent a bike and ride leisurely through the city and the surrounding prairie.
In Neubrandenburg, we go to the nearest bike rental. Since we parked at the other end of the city, on the university campus, we walk through the city center.
The layout of the city is similar to Darmstadt. The city center is surrounded by a city ring. Around the city, there are old city walls with a moat. The typical feature is the 4 gates through which you enter the pedestrian zone.
The Tollensesee is located in the south of the city. Many locals have boathouses where their small fishing boats are parked.
The charm of the east is very present in the city. Besides the dreary impression, the nearby lake offers some variety in color and activities.
So we want to ride a bike around the lake. According to Google Maps, one lap is 35km. In the end, it was 40km, which we didn't cycle down so relaxed with two city bikes.
If the goal of the day was to enjoy the day, it turned out to be another sports activity.
The tour takes two and a half hours. Back in Neubrandenburg, we pass by a fair. Like in Denmark, the rides and sweets automatically attract us. Two crepes later, we return to the bike rental. We paid €8.50 for the rental for the whole day. That's a fair price.
We ride back across the city to the bus. We do a big grocery shopping for the following days. And then off to Chemnitz, 11km away. Without much searching, we drive to the place where we slept last night.
On 02.10.20 around 09:00, today we get out of bed. Determined to make up for yesterday's laziness, we don't move a single step until 12:30, except for breakfast.
The weather doesn't offer much either. At home, we would start Netflix and watch a season of Peaky Blinders or The Handmaid's Tale. Since internet is a foreign word at our camping spot in the woods, we resort to old phone videos.
Around noon, we head to the north of Greifswald. Short tour through the city center with coffee and cake, and then we continue to the nearest shower.
Now we are sitting in the field near Mesekenhagen and listening to the audio drama of The Lord of the Rings.
The day ends in a relaxed way.
