We survived the night under the motorway bridge without any problems and drove on to Vista Alegre, where the 200-year-old Vista Alegre porcelain factory is located. This is where Portugal's "Rosenthal" is made.
The new museum, which was completed at the end of 2016, impressively presents the history of porcelain production. Many special pieces are on display and at the end you can virtually look over the shoulders of the porcelain painters. Apart from producing the porcelain (including porcelain for industrial and laboratory purposes), the founder was committed to the workers from the very beginning. A housing estate was built, a kindergarten, school education, an academy where painting was taught, a theater and a music band were also set up! We bravely resisted buying porcelain!
Yesterday we were already impressed by the number of storks and today almost every chimney and electricity pylon in this area is occupied!
We take the motorway to Coimbra. Once again, our toll collection system didn't beep. Finally, I call an agency and am able to clarify that everything is working fine - obviously not every toll booth beeps.
At the campsite we do our first laundry, sort out the tickets for the next day and fire up the grill again!
