The past few days have been tough. They were days filled with expectations, days of preparation, anticipation, going crazy, and - above all - saying goodbye. We explained our plans to many people and had to explain to many people that, well, we don't really have a proper plan. Similarly, we don't really know what to expect except for kiwis (whether human, bird, or fruit), lots of surprises, and - let's not deny it - GERMANS!
And now, well, now WE ARE IN... (although that does not apply to the airport wifi, which is why this first blog entry has to be written in Word for now...) and we admire the truly beautiful Sri Lankan flight attendants who just floated by here.
We are almost shocked that everything went so smoothly (isn't something supposed to go wrong with something like this?).
We ALMOST didn't forget anything on the way (but luckily we were still in Weimar when we realized that Richard had forgotten his EU driver's license and I had forgotten my rain jacket, so we could take another comfortable lap), we ALMOST didn't get lost, and we had planned enough time to comfortably have a coffee with the family before saying goodbye... Oh man...
But we successfully, albeit not completely tearlessly, got past this hurdle.
Even the check-in went smoothly (except that Richard almost forgot his phone, but a very friendly gentleman pointed it out to us, who is already on the same level in Richard's personal hero ranking as the cyclist who saved his driving test...)
It is now exactly 8:00 PM local time and we will soon board the plane that will take us to Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. From there, we will fly directly to warm Singapore.
So, see you soon... you will definitely hear from us (whether you want to or not!)
