Desert Dash: The finale!!!

Uñt’ayata: 09.12.2018

While my hare (Uli) and Georg were taking care of their drivers at checkpoints 4 & 5, I was lying in the back seat of the Amarok dehydrating. That's enough about me, because as described in Part 1, I was out.

Marco, on the other hand, set off on the final stage around 08:15.

Only 46 km left, can't be that wild, right?

A..... licked. 150 meters after leaving the oasis, we went into the desert and this time deep into the sand. This is where the race really earned its name, because about 15-20 km in the sand is hardcore when you already have 325 km in your bones and muscles.

This obstacle was also overcome and he finally started to wrap it up. A few tough kilometers on asphalt and through the industrial area until the final countdown on the promenade, right by the sea.

With a very good time of 19:22, Marco reached the finish line as the 32nd solo rider.

This was achieved by only about half of the 220 solo starters.

So congratulations to my wingman!!!!

Side note: The winners are once again last year's winners Konny Loser (Switzerland🇨🇭) and Rebecca Robisch (Germany). .... boring 😑.

That's the reporting from the "Dash".

Tomorrow there will be some impressions from our tourist day in Swakopmund and then we'll head back home.

....finally offseason, this year I will only pedal for a good cause at a spinning event and otherwise enjoy the bike-free time.
