Episode 5: We Love Portugal, We Love Cascais!!!
Everything here convinces! The weather, the sea, the nature, the warm people around us! We are thrilled! We are particularly impressed by the Cascais-Sintra National Park, where we spend some intense days biking and cruise down to the Atlantic after hot climbs through wooded and overgrown trails, then rocky, gravelly or flowy trails.
For those who are interested in more detail, here are our favorites: https://www.ride.ch/en/tours/donkey-trail and https://www.ride.ch/en/tours/sintra-trails.
And if the bike needs a day off, there are still the cliffs right on the coast to do a bit of climbing. Perfect, right!?
Episode 6: Lisbon, the Colorful City
We also like Lisbon. Blue trees bloom everywhere (I don't know what they are called), many houses are colorful and decorated with colorful tiles, and garlands and lanterns hang in the many narrow streets. In Lisbon, we get to meet several friends right away:
Grizzly and Pedro
The two introduce us to Portuguese cuisine. Under the arches of the bullfighting arena, we get to know all the Portuguese specialties. Pedro, who chose the restaurant, orders what feels like the entire menu for us, while Grizzly makes sure the beer glasses don't empty. After a very delicious meal and with full stomachs, we play a few rounds of pool. We lose.
Merle
We pick up my childhood friend, whom I haven't seen in over fifteen years, at her apartment in the lively Alfama district. We start the evening in a small bar, where we talk about the past and the present, and realize that many things are still the same. We move on to a bar where two musicians play relaxed songs by Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Coldplay, and so on. The joy of the two is so contagious that shortly afterwards everyone is singing and dancing.
Lukas, Franzi, Finn and Nora
On our last evening in Lisbon, we meet our bus builder Lukas with his family. It's a cozy barbecue evening that perfectly rounds off our stay in Lisbon.
