Viva Spain, the land of the sun

Uñt’ayata: 21.10.2019

Sunshine was what we urgently needed. Storm and rain thoroughly spoiled our stay in France and we decided to postpone it to next year. So we continue on the road.

Holger was fed up with the constant rain and drove like a robot. He had to keep our 'baby' on the road in heavy rain, aquaplaning, and hurricane-like storm. I often held my breath as the camper rocked like a ship, it was not easy and the tension was enormous. We didn't speak a word for what felt like hours due to excitement. I wanted to stop and at least wait for the worst of the storm, but my robot was not ready to allow another night in this crappy weather in France. So we managed to cross the Spanish border much earlier than planned. Respect, Holger.

And in Spain, the sun actually shone for at least one day. We arrived at a great parking spot, Camperpark in Palamos, where we can see the sea from our place. After our arrival, we first opened a bottle of Asti (thanks to Korsch) for Holger and a bottle of decent champagne (thanks Celina) for me and enjoyed the sun. In the evening, Waltraut didn't even want to go inside the motorhome (after 2 days of non-stop driving and an apocalyptic scenario).

Today, in a good mood, we explored the area and spontaneously fell in love with Palamos. Even Holger was speechless at times because it's so beautiful, well-maintained, and natural, which is rare for a tourist beach town.

But then the rain found us again. We are now planning to go to the Sahara because we believe they also urgently need a shower of rain. We are considering having our motorhome labeled with the inscription 'here comes the Rainmaker'.

Sonja is in Andalusia and sends us daily pictures full of sunshine captioned with 25°. I am curious to see what happens when we arrive there.

But we take it with humor and simply continue driving tomorrow. It's still about 1000 kilometers to our intended destination in Andalusia, but we will take our time.

Here are some beautiful photos from the day

PS: Dear Ingo, thank you very much for the invitation to the lantern singing on November 1st, 2019 at 5:30 pm in Schwochel, but I don't think we can make it.
