30/04/2019 to 01/05/2019 - Sepilok / Borneo / Malaysia

Uñt’ayata: 01.05.2019

In the morning, we had a 2-hour car ride to Sepilok ahead of us. We checked in at Sepilok B&B for one night and headed to the Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. After a 15-minute walk, we could enjoy a traditional lunch at Mama Wati's. Another 5 minutes of walking and we reached the center. We learned a lot about the care, upbringing, and rehabilitation of our closest relatives. 2 orangutans were already waiting for fresh bananas and apples just in time for feeding time.

Sepilok has more to offer - sun bears. The smallest species of bears. They prefer to eat fruits, termites, and honey. We visited them the next morning before heading to the airport to fly to Tawau and then drive to Semporna.
