Sunday, October 22nd, 2023, day 22
This morning we left the campground in Kanab and drove to Bryce Canyon. It wasn't far, about 100 km, about an hour and a half. The landscape here in Utah is completely different again, we even saw green meadows. The way to Bryce Canyon ended up being more of a drive through coniferous forest and we seriously asked ourselves what was so special about Bryce Canyon. Then we parked the RV and went to the rim and looked down into Bryce Canyon. But our mouths fell open, incredible landscape, bizarre rocks, great light, a contour that we had never seen in our lives. We decided on a hike that was very sporty. We descended into Bryce Canyon (approx. 250 m descent) over sandy paths with rugged edges and steep slopes to the right and left of the path, but in doing so we experienced the bizarre contours of the rocks almost up close. And finally we climbed the 250 meters, some of them very steep (between 15 and 20% gradient). It was only about 4 km and only took us an hour and a half, but it gave us an insight into the bizarre landscape of Bryce Canyon while at the same time giving us a bit of exercise.
Then we drove back almost the same way, but turned towards Zion National Park. Now we are sitting in a very nice restaurant on the edge of a bison herd and enjoying a unique bison rib-eye steak alongside a cool drink. We never had that.
All in all we had a sensational day (apart from the Rhenish derby Cologne against Gladbach)
Tomorrow we start the 3rd week in the motorhome
