After another night bus ride, we arrived in the third largest city in Peru. From Trujillo it is not far to Huanchaco, the most popular surf spot in the country. We admired the high waves, the long promenade, and the straw boats here.
The Huaca de la Luna archaeological site impressed us greatly. The ruin was the religious center of the Moche people and is over two thousand years old, currently still in the midst of excavation.
We took our trips using public transportation, which not only saved us money, but also brought us closer to the locals. It wasn't always easy to catch the right bus among numerous small and large ones without a schedule, but with our learned Spanish, we ultimately succeeded.
