After a brief consideration of what we want to do next after the Franz Josef Glacier, it became clear: 'Today is a beautiful day, and it only takes 30 minutes to get to the beach, so let's go to the beach!'
Upon arriving in Okarito, we looked for a nice hiking trail. It was quickly found. It said 40 minutes there and 40 minutes back. "Great," we thought, "let's do it." Especially because there were many good reviews for this trail on the website. At the beginning, the trail was okay and we had small viewpoints. After about 30 minutes, there was a sign that said, 'from here 40 minutes' .... well, okay, let's go then. The problem is that we have already walked a lot today and the trail just went uphill and steeply for 40 minutes .... I cursed Daniel during the uphill climb... I eventually couldn't walk anymore... The view from the top of the mountain was breathtakingly beautiful, you could see the sea on one side and the mountains on the other side at the same time. Unfortunately, not everything fit into one picture... the camera couldn't capture everything.
After we got back down, we took a short break. After that, we went to the beach and took some beautiful pictures and enjoyed the rest of the day.
On our way back, we made a stop at the grocery store in Franz Josef and bought a few things, making sure we were back home for dinner. It was a nice but exhausting day :)
