Day 2 - Louvre
After breakfast, we drive to Saadiyat Island via Yas Island. Today, we visit the newly opened museum "Louvre Abu Dhabi".
The Louvre is already noticeable from afar with its impressive roof structure. The building complex is designed to resemble an Arabic old town and is surrounded by water basins. The net-like dome structure made of a kind of metal stars allows light rays to pass through, giving the feeling of being "inside" a building, although many areas of the Louvre are open all around. There are several exhibitions, from classical artworks to interactive exhibitions, exhibitions for children, and special exhibitions such as "Comics and Manga".
We pay 63 AED for admission (children and teenagers under 18 enter for free).
We explore and decide to visit some interactive exhibitions and the children's area. The highlight for everyone is the Comic-Manga area, where you can pick up a pen and add to the comics on the wall. Additionally, you can immerse yourself in the world of virtual reality. With the help of a VR headset, we dive into the deepest ocean and see many colorful fish. Lots of fun!
There are arcade games, videos, cushions to "chill" on, and various interactive stations.
We then head to the children's exhibition, where creativity is again required. There is painting, puzzling, dancing, and riddle-solving. We have a lot of fun and hardly notice how time flies by.
After taking a look at a small part of the main exhibition featuring classical works, the kids get hungry. So, around 2 pm, we continue to Yas Mall and treat ourselves to something delicious at the food court.
We spend the afternoon at the community pool with our little godchildren. Unfortunately, the pool water with a temperature of +35 degrees Celsius is not exactly refreshing when the outdoor temperature is +39 degrees Celsius...
So for the rest of the day, it's all about sweating!
