When the days fly by...

نشرت: 17.04.2022

... that's probably a good sign. In fact, I can't imagine a better everyday life than the one I'm experiencing here in Granada right now.

Today on Easter Saturday, in the midst of the hustle and bustle of Semana Santa, Holy Week in Andalusia, I'm once again on the verge of a new adventure. Tomorrow I'm flying to Morocco!

In 2019, I was already on a 3-week round trip to this diverse country, and the experiences have shaped me to this day. So I'm even more excited to return for the second time. This time for a 1-week vacation with my mom! I still can't really imagine that we will meet tomorrow at the airport in Fez, and I haven't had such great wanderlust in a long time.

Granada and the Albaizyn neighborhood where I live are perfect for getting in the mood for Morocco. Since the vacation was booked, I've been highly motivated to learn Arabic again, which I can directly apply in the shops on my way to work. 🙂 It's always interesting to see how quickly you make new contacts when you speak the other person's native language. The 'Carniceria Albaizyn' (butcher shop) has become my new regular shop, not because of the meat, but because they have the best dates there, along with a brief chat with Hassan. 🙂

You can also experience the Ramadan period in Granada. One day, I myself underwent the experiment of not eating until sunset (which was at 8:40 p.m. in Spain that day), but not in the Islamic way, without drinking, and including vegetable broth and an orange-lemon-ginger-carrot juice with bitter herbs :-D.

Although I was hungry all day, breaking the fast together with Simo was worth the experience. Even though there was frozen pizza. :D

I had to try the famous Harira, which is a must for breaking the fast in Morocco. With the amount I cooked, we had it as a shared Moroccan lunch on the rooftop terrace with the coworking people.

Another great Ramadan meal was at Hassan's with friends. Mmm, his sister's Harira tastes better than my experiment. 😄

When tea and baggage were served, I thought the meal was over, but later came the main course, the Tajine. Maybe I should have fasted on this day too. :-D
