Tag 38: Endless Markets in Chinatowns

نشرت: 16.05.2019

Since today was our last day in Singapore, we had to check out of our room again. By the time we had packed everything, it was already noon. After storing all our luggage in the living room, we walked to the MRT station. We initially had some difficulties there. Since our EZ-Link cards had insufficient balance and we didn't have enough cash, we had to think about how to get to Chinatown. After a short internet search, we found out that it is also possible to check in using Google Pay on our smartphones. When we finally arrived in Chinatown, we first went to the food court located in the MRT station to have something to eat. Strengthened with a delicious sandwich, we continued on to the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, which is known for exhibiting a canine tooth of Buddha. We explored the temple and took a walk through the small garden on the rooftop terrace. Then we continued on to the food center, where one food stall is lined up next to another, offering a huge selection of Asian dishes. Right next to it is the street market, which meanders through several streets in Chinatown. This is the perfect place to buy a souvenir cheaply at one of the many stalls. After spending some time strolling through the alleys of the market, we walked to the Sri Mariamman Hindu Temple, which is adorned with countless colorful statues. On the way back, we treated ourselves to a delicious ice cream at the food court in the MRT station and bought a bread at the supermarket for dinner. Once back at our accommodation, we sat on the terrace and prepared a sandwich for the flight. Finally, at 6:00 PM, we made our way to the airport, where we boarded the flight to Bali.
