Good morning Prague. Today we're supposed to continue. Hopefully until Slovenia. I'm curious to see what awaits us and how far we'll really get.
After a Czech breakfast in bed (croissants, croissants, croissants) and delicious coffee, Svensson is already eagerly waiting for departure. Freshly showered (who knows where we'll spend the night), checked out and settled in. At 11:15 am, I leave Prague after driving 817 kilometers to get to know the place where my driver wants to share her childhood summer vacation experiences with me.
We reach Dobrichovice at 11:48 am - and yes, we like it here! I can wait at a nice parking lot overlooking the Berounka River while my driver refreshes herself in the cool water, sits reverently by the water, and reminisces in great memories. We like it here and we almost stayed, but we feel the urge to move on. Quickly put the postcards in the mailbox and off we go towards Slovenia. Next stop - Maribor.
Well, it doesn't happen like that. Apart from the fact that I'm thirsty, we need to take short breaks. Stop at the Czech Lidl, gas station, and the duty-free shop.
At 5:48 pm, I am the proud owner of a second vignette - 16 euros and a big bruise on my shin (somehow my door just wanted to close, I didn't see her leg) cost the vignette for 10 days in Austria.
Austria welcomes us with large fields of sunflowers and grain fields and a low sun. In the summer, Austria is really beautiful to look at already. And yes, we can read signs for a short time, somehow relaxing.
The day consists of many hours of driving. We enjoy the soothing rolling of my wheels and the good roads in Austria. Lost in thought and daydreaming - building names from license plates and looking at people in passing cars. That's van life.
Now my navigation system has the GPS data from the travel guide. We are supposed to arrive at 10 pm - tonight we will probably be free. Thanks to the travel guide "With the motorhome to Slovenia", we should be able to rest well overnight. Fresh water tank full - we're excited.
It starts raining after Vienna. Just what we needed. Dark and rain, a stupid combination. It gets better after Graz, now the roads are steaming and winding. Not for the weak stomach.
Quickly bought another vignette at a gas station - yes, I'm Svensson, taller than 1.30 meters, and I need the expensive vignette - 1 month = 60 euros!
After 641 km, we cross the Slovenian border at 10:04 pm. Dark at 700 meters above sea level, a serpentine road stretches through a forest. Fog lies on the road - it's spooky.
Darn it - the recommended parking spot turns out to be stupid now, especially since there are men sitting opposite drinking beer. I don't want to stay here. Worse than in a horror movie, a giant river emerges from the darkness during the next 30 kilometers that seem to stretch like chewing gum, a marten runs in front of me, and warning signs - watch out for cows - line the narrow streets!
The parking spot is more like a parking lot - it will have to do. Said - done. After 691 km - that's enough!
Good night!
