Glenloch Tea - Ramboda falls

نشرت: 29.12.2016

Today was a slightly more relaxed day.

At about 10 o'clock we left our hotel and headed towards Nuwara Eliya. Don spontaneously changed our next hotel because we actually wanted to stay directly in Nuwara Eliya. From there we wanted to go to the "Horton Plains" (National Park), but we decided to go for the "Little Adams Peak" instead, as the Horton Plains are likely to be engulfed in fog. And that would be a real shame. You would have walked a 9 km circular path and eventually reached "The World End's". Similar to the Grand Canyon, we would have encountered a sudden incline, which is said to be breathtaking. But we would have had to leave around 5 o'clock in order to possibly enjoy the view without fog.

The other critical points were: temperatures there range from 5-8°C and the hotel is not heated.

Instead, we now have a hotel directly located at waterfalls. If I were to describe it to you, you probably wouldn't believe me! Fantastic!! I'm sitting on a balcony in the sun right now and writing this. Unbelievable and beautiful!

In this picture you can see small bungalows in the back. We're sleeping in the 3rd one from the left! :-)

And this picture shows the view from our room!

But of course, we didn't get beamed from the last hotel in Kandy to this one. On the way, we saw some other great things. We drove through mountains and valleys and discovered landscapes that can hardly be surpassed!

And then a little later we stopped at a tea plantation. A young lady explained to us the process of how black, green, or white (Ceylon) tea is made.

As a souvenir, I bought a package of green tea, as I generally don't really like black tea and white tea is priceless. Since only the tips of the leaves are used for white tea, it is naturally much more valuable. It's hard to believe that all the leaves are still hand-picked.

Tomorrow we're also going to Ella. I'm especially looking forward to the famous train ride! You'll see it later...

Best regards to cold Germany :-)
