After a restful night and a very good breakfast, mhm this banana pancake was delicious, we went to the Vietnamese embassy. We needed our visa for Vietnam because we wanted to enter by bus on the land route, so we couldn't do it "on arrival". The whole process turned out to be quite uncomplicated, we just had to wait 3 days to pick up our passports at the consulate.
Now that we knew we would be in Luang Prabang for 3 days, we started looking around for things to do. For today, we chose a trip to Tad Sae Waterfall. According to descriptions, it is one of the most beautiful waterfalls with the opportunity to swim.
We took a minibus to the entrance of the national park. Inside, we were first informed about bears and the bear protection program.
But we weren't really interested in that today. So we skipped it and went straight to the waterfall. We decided to hike up the hill and to the top edge of the waterfall first, and then take photos and cool off with a swim on the way back. And so we climbed the little hill. The nice thing about it was that we also escaped the biggest tourist flow. When we reached the top, we had a beautiful view of the forests and the waterfall. A truly idyllic spot.
There was a sign that said it was a 3 kilometer hike to the source of the river. I wanted to see this, but Bia didn't. Not even the cave, which was also worth seeing, could motivate her. So we parted ways, I went to the source and she slowly made her way back with the daypack to go swimming below.
My short hike ended quite disappointingly because there wasn't much to see at the source.
And I couldn't visit the cave either because it cost an extra 10,000 kip and I went without money.
So I made my way back.
But my mood improved again when I was back at the waterfall and could admire its beauty.
After a short time, I also found Bia, who had already cooled off in the cool water. Now it was time for me to jump in as well.
When the sky suddenly turned dangerously black, we hurried back to the minibus, but we weren't fast enough. Suddenly it started to rain. And how... But after 10 minutes, the whole thing was over and the sun came out again.
Back in Luang Prabang, we enjoyed the evening at the market.
