Yay, the plans are just a little behind schedule, the road is open again. On one hand, we are happy about that, on the other hand, we would have loved to sail out into the majestically described quiet waters today. Somehow, we're not entirely sure if it would have been worth paying the hundred and fifty dollars just to see water reflections and at best get blown away by rain and wind. Tomorrow, all of this should be in the past and the conditions should be as they should be. So we decide to drive to Milford as quickly as possible as long as the road is open. There's no time left for refueling, but my boundless optimism deems the situation along the three hundred kilometer-long journey on the gas station-less mountain road as unproblematic.

The road to the fjord is beautiful and breathtaking - described and illustrated in our travel guides. The reality looks rather foggy and rainy, but because of that, a mystical and spooky side of the wet area is revealed to us.

In Milford itself, due to the weather and the time, we have no other choice than to kill time. So we time our overnight stays at paid camping sites extremely poorly and thus, I get my third hot shower in less than two days (more than in the previous three weeks), but I also have to leave money behind. Simply staying somewhere overnight would unfortunately be equivalent to a direct donation to the state in New Zealand, as checks are constantly being carried out everywhere - allegedly (we have never noticed anything anywhere, but both of us (Gudi) are in great fear of breaking a law).

On this rainy afternoon, the campsite offers us not only electricity but also a lot of DVDs, which is why we spend romantic hours in the camper. For the general understanding, it should be noted that our version of romance looks a little different than the idea of a typical Lady and the Tramp rendezvous. So we also have pasta, but the romance is more of a Tom and Jerry style, a wild cat and mouse game, as Gudi, fleeing from my garlic sauce-induced bad breath, can develop animal agility and cunning. She forgets that she herself is the terror of the vampire world. Nevertheless, it's also nice to spend a day away from tourist activities and travel in our own four walls, although the rejection that Gudi expresses due to my oral emissions after just four garlic cloves in half a can of pesto deeply hurts me.

Gudi's cynical quotes:

"I love garlic at least as much as I love our relationship, if not a little more."

Ha, there we have it, she admits that she smells just as strongly as I do. The admission that I was able to get out of her does hit me a little though, even though I always knew that I would never be able to come between Gudi's greatest love, her love for food.
