After waking up early in the morning to apply for our visas for Vietnam at the embassy, we took a tuk tuk to the Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda. Unfortunately, there were no descriptions or information boards about the individual buildings here. So we went through the entire area pretty quickly. But where was the Silver Pagoda? It quickly turned out that the Silver Pagoda is actually golden! The three of us were very confused...
In general, the whole area reminded us of the pagodas and the Royal Palace in Bangkok. Some of the buildings looked like exact replicas.
After that, we walked through the streets towards the Central Market. There you could buy everything imaginable. From fruits, vegetables, fish, and meat to sunglasses and watches. Jan bought a new watch and I bought a new pair of sunglasses. Of course, all originals ;)
To conclude our tour, we went to the Wat Phnom Temple. It is located on a small hill, surrounded by a huge roundabout. We first rested in the park area and then climbed about 10 meters up the hill. We particularly liked this temple because there were many well-preserved paintings on the walls and ceiling inside.
Afterwards, we took a tuk tuk back (of course). For dinner, we went to a gigantic shopping mall. Now we had hopefully seen all the major attractions of the capital city. Tomorrow we will continue towards Battambang...
