More dives

نشرت: 25.10.2019

After successfully obtaining my diving license, I continued diving, of course. That's why I was there 😉 During my time there, I also took two courses from the following diving course (Advanced Open Water Diver). The Deep Dive and the Night Dive. The instructor recommended the Deep Dive because apparently, I am not too bad at diving and was ready for it. As for the Night Dive, I really wanted to try it. So, a bit more theory for both dives, and off we went. First came the Deep Dive. Instead of diving up to 18 m, we now went down to 30 m deep. I was a bit nervous about that, especially because the theory always assumes the worst, and I had read about it beforehand... but in the end, you don't really notice how deep you are down there, except for the fact that there is a larger number on the dive computer. And the dive is shorter. It was definitely a lot of fun. In the evening, I immediately followed up with the Night Dive. I had a lot of respect for that one too. And this time, it was justified. I never felt insecure underwater because I had a really attentive instructor with me. But somehow, it still felt strange. Firstly, I had quite a bit of difficulty with buoyancy and neutral buoyancy because you just don't have as many fixed points of reference. Secondly, I just don't necessarily like darkness, and not being able to see much underwater is not so fun. Who knows what might swim towards you... nevertheless, it was a really beautiful dive, during which I saw so many new things, and I definitely don't regret doing it. But I know that before I do another night dive, I need more experience! Still, it's cool to have both certifications now and be allowed to dive up to 30 meters and at night. I can still decide how much I want to do that 😉

In addition to the specialty dives, there were three more "normal" fundives. The first one was a bit exciting. We went to one side of an island, which faced the open sea. Wow, there were some strong currents! Well, for me, experienced divers probably wouldn't have had any problems, but for my second real dive, it was quite intense. I also had a bit of panic for the first time because I felt that my skills weren't enough to handle everything safely. But here I am once again amazed by my dive instructors! They immediately grabbed me, calmed me down, and then we surfaced. Unfortunately, our boat wasn't there, so we had to wait a bit (and work quite hard to not drift away from the current). And I was happily bleeding, I had cut myself on some rock while holding on. It wasn't a big deal at all, but finger wounds always look like you're bleeding profusely. So, we swam in the water until a fishing boat came, and we were able to make it understand that it should bring the dive boat. (It was with the other divers who were still diving in a different spot). When it arrived, we got on the boat, went to the other side of the island, and got back in the water. I was a bit exhausted, but it was still pretty cool to see a few more fish without much current ^^ On the second fundive, we were at a cave, but not inside. Firstly, I'm not allowed to, and secondly, I don't really want to. The idea of having something above my head doesn't appeal to me! But even around it, it was very cool, and we saw many fish again. The last dive of the vacation first took us to an underwater volcano, which I wanted to see. It was also quite cool but not as exciting as I thought it would be. There were just bubbles and warm water... since we were only there for 10 minutes, we then went to an underwater mountain. There were many amazing fish there again, and even a turtle! ❤ I was so incredibly happy about that! It was a great way to end the trip, and now I'm waiting to be able to go back into the water again!!

By the way, I only have photos from the fundives, and they are not the best. It's also something I need to practice! But at least you'll get a small glimpse 😉
