Altstadt stroll, food and our everyday life

There's not much new to report. I feel guilty when we spend the whole day indoors, but it's just too hot at the moment. 🥵 Even the sea is warm and doesn't provide any relief. You don't want to move at all, let alone be outside. It's no wonder that the Cypriots only flock to the restaurants after sunset. Unfortunately, this lifestyle is not practical for us at the moment with two young children. Who would have thought, but I'm looking forward to winter when we can be outside for hours at mild temperatures. Well, we'll start in autumn, in September. 😉

Timo has been working hard over the past few days and has set up a pavilion. His artificial heart valve cursed him in the meantime, but the gentleman wanted to see this project through and now the thing is standing! 💪 He still needs to protect it from the wind with ropes and carabiners, and then - when the August heat is over - I'm looking forward to beautiful breakfasts outside in the shade and cozy evenings by candlelight. Just a little more decoration and it's ready!

We bought a water table for the children, which we still want to set up for the weekend. The boys will have fun with it, we're sure.

Speaking of children, I have to share another success story with you: We are, even if only shortly, completely off powdered milk and bottle nipples. Hallelujah! 🙏 It's really a different ballgame with two children, you have to find the perfect timing for both (!) and that can take time. It was coincidence that we were able to wean Henry off the pacifier and not Jona. But by the 3rd birthday at the latest, it's over. The children's dentist didn't express any concerns during the last visit, but we will start the farewell from the pacifier with a 'pacifier book' soon. Unless Jona manages to break it completely before. He's already bitten it several times. 🤣

Otherwise, we have a week without daycare ahead of us. For the children, it's definitely a rest, because daycare is usually noisy. We had quite a few plans for this week recently, but due to the extreme heat at the moment, I'm not sure which of them can really be realized.

What else is there to report? Hm, we have an ant problem... 🐜  🐜 The lovely little creatures have found a treasure at our place, dirty dishes in the dishwasher. Let me tell you, the first time I opened the dishwasher and found an ant colony in it was not pleasant. 😱 By now, I've gotten used to it. They don't really do anything bad, they just transport food. And when they're done (which is not the case in the dishwasher), they disappear again. Occasionally, an insect dies in our place and is also 'transported away', in pieces. We don't do much against the ants anymore, it's a peaceful coexistence between them and us. ✌️
