Goldie ♥ Baby No. 2

نشرت: 23.02.2018

Wednesday, February 7, 2018. Julia and her boyfriend Johnny are on their way to the hospital, while Curtis and I continue sleeping. In the morning, we baked a cake to surprise Julia in the hospital. Around 12 o'clock, Julia called us - via video - and showed us our new baby - it's actually a girl!!!! We both couldn't believe it! It was a great feeling. Shortly after we hung up, I burst into tears. I was so happy and couldn't believe that we finally have a girl in the family! After Curtis took his nap, we went straight to the hospital to meet his little sister. We were there at 2:15 pm, even though visiting hours didn't start until 2:30 pm. Fortunately, we were allowed to go through right away. Julia was so happy to see us! Before us, only she and Johnny had seen the baby (and of course the doctors and midwives). So we were numbers 3 and 4. Of course, I was also able to hold my little princess right away - she was only a few hours old and super tiny and cute!!! After we all had a piece of cake, Curtis and I eventually drove back home before going to the hospital every day for the next few days - and every time more photos were taken! On the second day, I even had both babies in my arms - so sweet!! During the time Julia was in the hospital, I had Curtis full-time - in the morning, afternoon, evening, and at night - for 3.5 days. Everyone told me that I should charge extra for this, that no one could expect that bla bla bla. Personally, I thought it was great! I was really looking forward to this time - I mean, it takes a lot of trust to leave a 17-month-old baby with someone other than the parents for 3.5 days. I appreciated this trust, and since I had already experienced every time of day and night, it was nothing special now, apart from the fact that I was completely alone!!! Curtis was the sweetest and most adorable boy and even slept through the nights for me (Julia was totally amazed at how well he behaved for me....). Saturday morning. After 3.5 days alone with Curtis, we drove to the hospital together. But this time not just for a visit - but to bring Julia and our little princess Goldie home. That's why we came by car. Goldie and Curtis were the youngest passengers I've ever had in the car - I mean, how often do you get the chance to drive a 3-day-old baby around in the car!? But Julia trusted me completely - and sat relaxed in the passenger seat. And then it was real - two children at home! More photos were taken every day, and many friends and acquaintances came by every day to meet our little princess. The best part was that everyone brought food, so we didn't have to worry about lunch and dinner at all in the first week. Julia can't drive a car for 6 weeks, Curtis can't lift heavy objects, climb stairs, etc. because she had a caesarean section. But after 1.5 weeks, she already felt so great that we went to the park - all 4 of us. This week, when Goldie was two weeks old, we all went to the zoo - I drove, with both kids in the back and Julia in the passenger seat. We took so many great photos and selfies at the zoo - beautiful memories. The next day, we had lunch at Naked for Satan and then went to the museum, where Curtis and I climbed and played while Julia took care of Goldie. Yes, today we all went to the library together and then to friends after nap time. Julia is glad that I have an international driver's license and can drive manual cars, as we are much more flexible and she can make appointments. On Sunday, we went to the Color Festival just around the corner. Curtis and I had a lot of fun, as you can see very well in the photos ;) Next week, unfortunately already my last week with my Australian family, we have already planned everything. One day we will go to the zoo again, the next day we will have lunch in the city, another day I will take them to the hairdresser, and then, my last day with my family, we will attend a friend of hers' birthday party. As a family, we will go to the city, but after a while, I will drive home with the kids (both!!! including Goldie!!!) so that Julia can celebrate! That's the plan for now. I think it's great that she entrusted our little princess, who is not even a month old yet, to me alone!! I will let you know if everything worked out as planned ;)
And one of the best things about all of this is: Julia is home every evening! We have dinner together, watch a movie together every evening, eat ice cream or cookies, or even have a beer together. And of course, we chat a lot haha. Before Goldie was born, she used to work until 1 a.m., so I was always alone for dinner and completely alone as soon as Curtis was in bed. So I really enjoyed the past three weeks, when Julia was at home! And I can't imagine leaving my wonderful Australian family yet!
