San Francisco - the originality of the LGBTIQ community

نشرت: 04.09.2017

It felt like I had traveled to the source of the rainbow. Where the originality of us queers goes hand in hand with the present time. Where the social and cultural acceptance of LGBTIQs is felt to be almost 100% lived by every resident of San Francisco.

A city where I could walk hand in hand with my partner through the streets without an underlying and constant caution against homophobic jabs and insults. Comparable to the feeling of freedom from tension that you also experience in Amsterdam or Barcelona. It's relaxing.

And just as everything converges at a source, the rainbow also converges there and becomes light.

Sissy boys in thick leather boots with black painted fingernails, meet bears in casual looks and business suits, and leather boys who have a drink with drag queens and lesbians. Trans women and men who move confidently and omnipresently in public. Queer life on every corner and in every breath. The fashion available in relevant stores is also queer, definitely provoking for the German heterosexual eye. Fringed hot pants and muscle shirts, shining leggings in gold and silver, printed t-shirts and underwear, sequined muscle shirts, etc.. Wild, demonstrative, and felt original.

And the straight folks flatter us with sweet compliments on the street: "Sweet couple!" "Nice boys!" are just a few of them. The purest flattery. It feels good. Please understand this correctly, at home we also receive these compliments from our friends. The public is a bit more reserved about it. Maybe that's also due to the American mentality? If so, then PLEASE, dear Germans, become more American/Californian in this case.

Here are a few small impressions. Enjoy!

Have Fun & Be Proud!

Yours, Jan/Mom

Das ist ein toller Bericht und ich kann das Gefühl sehr gut nachvollziehen. Zu lieben wie man will, wenn man will und wo man will....sollte doch wirklich möglich sein....
