Stage 13 Lisbon —> Porto Covo 177 KM (Total 3420 KM)
Our new campsite is 500 meters from the sea and has a mix of old and new pitches as well as holiday homes. We book 3 nights for now and secure a very nice pitch - the rest of the day we first get used to the new climatic conditions 😅.
The center of the town is a cozy pedestrian zone with restaurants, cafes, and shops that have been built in a simple single-story style. In the evening, we visit the Marquês restaurant on the central square, which specializes in fish (like almost every restaurant in 🇵🇹 😉). Our friend and gourmet chef Herbert recommended that we try the delicacy of goose barnacles. We took the opportunity to do so - maybe there are different ways of preparing it ... 🤔, in any case, we have now crossed this dish off our to-do list 😊😉 (see photos).
In the next few days, we explore the beach and the individual coves. There is no continuous beach here, but individual enclosed coves that the sea has carved into the cliffs over millennia. The beaches in the coves can be reached by stairs carved into the rock - definitely not for people with a fear of heights 😳. The individual coves are spectacularly beautiful and because we really like everything, we book another 4 nights directly.
In the next few days, we explore the coast to the right and left of our town with the 🚲 and the 🚘 and find out that the information from a 🇵🇹 insider is true: to reach the most beautiful and loneliest coves in 🇵🇹, there are no roads but only dusty sandy tracks, but you are almost alone there!
Our means of transportation correspond accordingly 🙈 - washing is not worth it at the moment 😊.
We like it so much in Porto Covo that we book another 4 nights. After that, we want to continue to southern 🇪🇸, but we have heard about the heavy flooding in the news and now wait - which is not difficult for us because we are dry and safe here 😊.
