Fog and clearings alternate. Once again, we are amazed by the skill and creativity of the Incas. The huge rocks, weighing tons, were painstakingly pulled up by hundreds of people using ropes and pulleys. Here too, the stones fit together perfectly without mortar. There was running water and baths, self-sufficiency through terrace farming, and, most astonishingly, sacrificial rituals at an altitude of 6000 meters; for the arduous climb, the Incas only had simple shoes and hand-woven clothing. We also enjoy the magnificent views down to the Urubamba Valley..... along with a few other tourists🤣. Due to limited number of visitors with reserved tickets, this special place was not overcrowded. We barely make it to the bus without getting wet, but once we're down in Aguas Calientes, it is pouring. No problem, the next café, situated right on the turbulent Urubamba River, has delicious chocolate cake 😋.
