Santillana del mar - Comillas

This route was pretty much the worst day, running was very difficult due to the heat, and everyone was not feeling well. However, after going up and down, we all made it to the hostel. Isabel and I treated ourselves to a swim in the icy cold sea.

Comillas - Colombres

Originally, I planned to walk from Comillas to San Vicente, which was not very far, but since the others decided to take a longer route, Edwin and I took a taxi again because the hotels in San Vicente were not really affordable, until we reached Colombres. We all relaxed during a shared dinner.

Colombres - Llanes

This was the longest route for me and also the last one. The landscape was beautiful, but we all felt a bit tired, and it rained from time to time, which made everyone a bit sad. However, we completed this route with a few breaks. We arrived a bit tired at the hostel. The shared dinner and drinking game cheered us all up, and we all just fell into bed.

Llanes - Madrid

After sleeping in and having breakfast, Matthias left us and the rest of us enjoyed the small town of Llanes a bit more. Then Isabel and Edwin took me to the bus station and I took an 8-hour bus ride to Madrid. Tired and exhausted, I arrived late at night at the bus station and took the metro to my hostel after a few wrong turns. After checking in and getting ready for bed in the dark, I was glad to have a real bed with bedding for the night.

Conclusion Camino de Santiago

I think the Camino de Santiago is a great way to get to know yourself and your limits. For me, it was very challenging, which is surely due to my lack of habit of long-distance walking, but also to the rather heavy luggage. After my trip to South America, I can imagine doing a part of the Camino de Santiago again, hopefully with lighter luggage.
