Christmas atmosphere at work
So far, to be honest, we haven't had any Christmas atmosphere at all. Now that we are working in a Christmas shop, there is definitely more :-D. We even occasionally meet customers who say 'thank you' at the end because they can speak a little bit of German.
You can take a look at our website if you have nothing to do (realchristmastree.com.au). Christmas trees, Christmas decorations, and much more, that's what will keep us busy for the next three weeks.
We have received a work schedule and we can definitely work for the next three weeks! We are earning great money at the shop. In Australia, on Saturdays, you even get 50% more per hour, and on Sundays, you get 100% more per hour, so it's totally worth it. We still enjoy the work and it feels great to be 'settled' again.
Just sleeping in the same place every night and enjoying everyday life. At home, everyday life (working, eating, sleeping) really annoyed us... here, we are actually a bit happy about it because we are constantly on the go. We don't think we are traveling fast but we think you know what we mean?!
After 7 months, we believe that we have changed ourselves, or at least our perspectives. At home, it was always like, 'oh no, do something after work, let alone drive 30 km or so?... too late and too far to drive.' :-D Now, we can only laugh about that. Well, we don't know how it will turn out, whether we will find work quickly at home, especially where we will work, how long the commute will be, etc. but generally speaking, we can say that we want to try out more things at home, do more with friends and family, new hobbies or something. For example, we have totally discovered hiking here. You just somehow appreciate it much more when you haven't been home for so long, and after all, you only live once. So if not now, when? By the way, in the evening, here, we just drove another 400 km at 6 PM :-D so what's another 30 km now?We hope that we can maintain these perspectives and not be quickly pulled into the daily grind again in Germany.
