Sydney, the third.....

نشرت: 02.07.2017

Today the weather was even warmer, we were less tired and could just leave in a t-shirt.... Our destination for today: Darling Harbour. The bus ride again over Oxford Street - hundreds of beautiful little shops, none like the other. Another big plus for Sydney......Arriving at Darling Harbour, I was really amazed by the skyline and the offerings - a quarter has really been created there, which could only be imagined 24 years ago.... back then there was still a monorail train, which doesn't exist anymore.... Beautiful atmosphere there.... and a wonderful view of the incredibly grown skyline with really beautiful houses.

I had to laugh a bit about the Australians' attempt to create some winter atmosphere. An ice rink was set up, where the ice slowly melted. Artificial crystals were hanging over it. It didn't really fit. The nice hostel owner had already told me on the way to the airport that there are some Australians with a great longing for real winter.... Some celebrate Christmas in July, just because it's the closest to winter.... This ice rink is probably an attempt to give in to this longing a little bit.

We then took the ferry back to the city, to a jetty that didn't exist back then, a completely new neighborhood, great skyscrapers.... incredible to live there. If you have an apartment there, you can consider yourself really lucky.

Back over Queen Victoria Building, where Mika's bear got a brother, and over the pedestrian zone on Pitt Street. Funny, I had forgotten many shops, I only remembered them when I saw the names of the shops. Billabong, Sportsgirl, David Jones, Target, etc.

In general, I only recognize many things again when I see them. The sound of the traffic lights when they turn green, even the water with its strange smell when it's hot, I only remember it when I experience it here.

During the long bus ride in the dark, I think about the city.... about Australia and life there. I had actually forgotten a bit how beautiful it is to live in Sydney. How beautiful it is to always be by the water... to basically always have nice weather and many friendly and open people around. It's wonderful to be able to enjoy the sun outside during the day in winter and then in the evening, when it gets cold and it's dark at 5pm, to light the fireplace at home and watch the sea with your loved ones.... truly beautiful..... and if you plan an outdoor party, you never have to worry about whether the weather will cooperate. You can always be outside.... wonderful!!

In this spirit, sleep well everyone, I'll continue dreaming!!
