Yesterday I was out as a gorge walker again. The Samaria Gorge has been closed for a long time, so I took the Imbros Gorge, the smaller sister so to speak. In the past, this was the main connection from north to south. So a mule path. Burki dropped me off at the bottom and picked me up again at the top. It was fun, the sun appeared frequently, walking was more or less only on stones, but it wasn't steep.

When we reached the top, we had a little snack and drove over the mountains to a parking lot at Seitan Liman Beach. Actually, we wanted to stay here overnight and drove here because of the parking lot. When we looked down, we saw this great beach, so we went downhill for a while because it looked very good from above. There was only one car in the parking lot, during the peak season, this place is always full. It is actually a well-known beach because you can jump from the rocks into the water. It's not very easy to walk down there, but it's doable. In the meantime, we communicated with Jürgen, he should also be in the area. We didn't stay in the parking lot, there was no network and no phone possible. And we really wanted to meet Jürgen, so we had to make a phone call. Long story short, we met at the monastery and spent the night in the large parking lot in front of it. Jürgen invited us into his camper van, turned on the heating, and there was a small Christmas celebration. Gingerbread, mulled wine, delicious mandarins. Thank you for that.

This morning Jürgen went his own way again. I quickly went to the monastery before we headed to Chania for a city tour on my part. And then something annoying happened again. As I started driving at the green traffic light, there was a crash on the right side. An old man had parked on the side and simply opened the driver's door of his pickup truck without looking behind. I couldn't react that fast, and it crashed already. We called the police, and a Greek man who had witnessed the whole thing helped us. We felt really sorry for the old man. He looked so sad, something like that could happen to anyone. His door couldn't be closed anymore, the police helped him later and simply tied a rope around it. When everything was clarified, Burki and I decided to simply give the old man 50 euros. It doesn't hurt us and he can definitely use it to fix his door. Hopefully, the other way through the insurance will go smoothly. Now I have to mention something quickly: when the police officer held a device in front of my mouth, I thought it was a translation device and wanted to report the course of the accident. But he started blowing and said No, no, no. I didn't understand the word with the alcohol. It was a breathalyzer. 😅

With a little fright still in me, I strolled through the old town and along the Venetian harbor of Chania. The weather has changed today, no sun and also wind. We are staying by the sea, but it is raging today and creating a loud noise level.
