From the mountains to the sea

The small town of Cazorla was another stop we reached on winding country roads. The place borders a large nature reserve with magnificent mountains and lakes. With some patience, we could see the large vultures circling in the sky, but we were too late to take photos.

On the way to Almeria, we drove over a mountain route in the Sierra Nevada, where you are constantly reminded with signs that you should better move around on a horse. It's nice that we are allowed to drive these routes with our 4 wheels.

The drive down from the mountains to the coast was a shock. Far before Almeria, the whole country is covered with greenhouse plastic in a dimension that we couldn't even imagine.

To find a plastic-free space, we stationed ourselves in the 'Gabo de Gata-Nijar' nature reserve, specifically at the camping site near the small village of San José. From here, we could reach beautiful sandy beaches with crystal clear water on foot. Since we didn't have a light blue parasol as a shade provider, we made our beautiful sunshade with driftwood and telescopic poles.
