The thing with coffee

የታተመ: 24.07.2017

The day started with a bombastic Bavarian breakfast, with pretzels, good cheese, and of course, coffee. To be precise, espresso from Marten's new, insanely sacred espresso machine. This was a project that Philipp wanted to dedicate himself to. Which worked out great. With a newly gained sense of excitement, the second cup of espresso was brewed, but then, in Marten's office, time stood still for a moment and he thought he heard a cry for help from his beloved machine in the distance. It happened that the espresso machine exploded, or did something similar to exploding. In an act of liberation, it threw the portafilter away and Philipp, thinking on his feet, tried to catch the remaining coffee running through with his hands and thus... probably filter it? It's not known. It took a while for Philipp to realize that boiling water is hot.

So, armed with burns and - very fittingly - umbrellas, we headed towards Schwabing. After some strolling, we discovered a great package-free store called 'Ohne'.

We took a break there because we were hungry again. With a very good, of course, coffee and really good sandwiches, we made the acquaintance of the owner's daughter, a truly heartbreakingly cute young lady. When we asked her what she was drawing, she replied, 'A bird.' When we tried to specify the species a bit more ('Oh! I see! A parrot, how beautiful!'), we received the somewhat irritated answer: 'It's a bird!' Oh boy. Learned something again: Live life simply, dude!

In short: We were excited about the offerings and the people in this store, so we naturally wanted to take something with us. Of course, we needed coffee for our trip. Philip filled some into a fancy tin. Tasty Arabica. Or so he thought. Then came the following dialogue during payment:

Salesperson: Oh! Very good choice. The cereal coffee is really tasty.

P: Cereal coffee?

S: Yes, very tasty.

D: Really? Oh.

P: But! I wanted that (uncertain glance to the side... can I still pour it back?)

S: You wanted it, didn't you?

P: Yes! I wanted it so much, I drank it as a child!

D: (at the same time) No.

We bought the coffee. And the good Arabica. Too.

We were very exhausted from all the excitement in the English Garden. To calm down, we had a little snack. Munich white sausage with sweet mustard and pretzels. And of course.... a coffee.
