Horta, Faial, Azores 📞

We were in the museum in Horta, (Faial, Azores, Portugal, Europe 🤣) There is a special exhibition: The objects are carved from the inside of the branches of the fig tree. The “master” of this art form has passed away. Otherwise I would have poached him for Wonderland. That impressed us the most!

But Horta has had other important tasks in the recent past!

The Atlantic submarine cables converged here.

And the first transatlantic flight in 1919(!!!) stopped here.

The Azores once had the longest runway in the world. Even the space shuttle could have landed here.
