Our last major stop in Colorado was Rocky Mountains National Park. A stunning landscape, towering mountains, and abundant wildlife. What we didn't know before was that a few years ago, elk were reintroduced to the area with great success. And as luck would have it, we stumbled upon the exact spot where many elk can be seen. In the afternoon, we saw a female elk with twins, followed by an older female elk without any offspring in the distance. As the animals later settled under a tree to rest, we set up our tent and returned, hoping the animals were still there. And they were 👍😄
In the evening, at night, and in the morning, we were visited by a herd of elk, or rather, deer, at the campsite. There were many, very loud, and very large animals. You had to make sure to keep your belongings safe.
The next morning, we drove past the elk viewing points again. And there were elk again, a cow with a calf and a solitary cow. However, they were difficult to see, so we didn't get any photos. But it was an amazing experience to be able to observe these wonderful animals.
