Our stop for Valencia is the Devesa Garden campsite, about 10 km south of the city. A lovely place, especially for families. As soon as we arrive, Peter notices a camper with a DD license plate - this professional neurosis of checking every license plate often takes on unexpected dimensions, especially on vacation. Anyway, we make contact and meet a young family who (you won't believe it) actually comes from Malter and lives less than 500m from our home - neighbors in the truest sense. Well, the world is a small village and there we are, meeting our almost-neighbors 2400 km from home, whom we have never seen at home (?!) We had to evaluate this fact in detail on both evenings with wine, beer, and a lot of Serrano ham, and here we met a super nice couple whom we will definitely see again at home. So the two days we had planned here passed incredibly quickly.
On March 11th, we visited the city of Valencia. This is the time when the Fallas festival, a traditional Valencian festival to welcome spring, takes place. Elaborate figures representing the spirits of winter are set up throughout the city and are eventually burned with a lot of fireworks. Everyone here is in a state of exception, spontaneous scooter races take place and music is played and celebrated everywhere. Therefore, we only briefly visited the city center with the little one, passing by the huge Oceanographic Museum, whose architecture impressed us, as well as the beautiful old cathedral and the charming streets with cute cafes and boutiques. An absolutely recommendable city - young, fresh, and inspiring. The rest of the time, we lay in the beautiful park under fully laden lemon trees, satisfied and enjoyed churros. That was a great ending for the Valencia region, which is supposed to be a bit rainier in the next few days, so we decided to move on.
