So many sunny days in New Zealand. That can't be right. Let's finally hike in the rain! 😥

We start at 9 a.m. with our shuttle from Wanaka. Other travelers drive with their rental cars and campervans on the over 20km long gravel road across flowing fords. We are glad to have chosen the shuttle with our camper. Arrived at the Raspberry Car Park, we get out and immediately put on all the water-repellent clothes we find in our backpacks. We are facing a 10km hike in the rain and we forgot the rain jackets.

The West Coast in this region is practically made up of glaciers and the mountains hold the clouds from the northwest. Nice for Wanaka, but it rains more often in the mountains.

Despite the rain, we enjoy the hike through the rainforest, past rushing rivers and countless waterfalls. When we reach the top, we would have loved to admire the panorama for longer. Unfortunately, it wasn't cozy in the rain. We can only see the glacier through the thick clouds. After the three-hour hike, we want to end the day in a cozy way. We are staying at our trusted Holiday Park in Wanaka and use the sauna to warm up again. Wonderful. The good New Zealand Pinot Noir from the region is the perfect red wine for our cozy evening today.
