After checking out from El Valle with a bit of melancholy, we embark on our bus odyssey to Boquete. 254 km and multiple transfers. This could be interesting with my rudimentary Spanish skills 😂
Well, the way to the bus stop was easy, Kim from the hotel drove us there by car. Of course, we were the only ones at the stop, locals stand a few meters in front...but it was pretty, so we stayed there, it worked.
The bus was packed, we were wondering what they were all doing here on a Sunday...well, good Catholics, they all went to church. But obviously it has more of an event character than ours 😉
The first transfer is approaching, we are getting nervous (even though we are glad to escape the incredibly loud music like 'Desposito'), but the bus boy, the one you pay, tells us that we have to get off here. It's more of a big intersection than a stop, but okay. Interestingly, we didn't even say where we wanted to go, but apparently we look like we want to continue on the Panamericana.
Now we have to wait for the next bus to David. One comes to Santiago, so not ours. But the bus boys (this time 2) insist that we get on. They say we have to go to David from there. We don't know any better, so we get on. 1 hour 50 minutes, quite comfortable and with a movie (not Netflix, but bus entertainment).
In Santiago, completely clueless, but the bus boys already show us the next bus. It doesn't say David on it either, but the new bus boy says they're going there, so we get on. This time a double-decker, less space, but a new movie and 3 other Germans next to us to chat with. Quite nice, except that I have to pee. Another 2.5 hours of travel.
In David, I can quickly pee (you have to buy toilet paper for 0.25$ and then you can go in) and there's already the bus to Boquete. Crazy, everything looks totally chaotic, but it has its order...another hour of travel, and then we will finally be there.
In Boquete, we quickly checked in, ate pizza, and now finally sleep. There's a tour planned for tomorrow, but booked a bit last minute, we'll see if it works out!
