The night in Bayard-sur-Marne was calm, as we moored behind the lock, we were able to leave a little earlier. Our yellow angel pointed out to us that there is no possibility to lock before 9:00 am, it was not difficult for us to fulfill his wish. Nevertheless, we drove out of the first lock at exactly 9:00 am.
The destination was Écluse de Vouécourt, n°34 / Canal-Champagne-Bourgogne, right behind it, it looks in Google as if there is a docking possibility.
Heike had time and cooked the potatoes, after all, it was supposed to be Germany's favorite Christmas dinner today, potato salad with sausages. We bought the sausages in France, so it can only be a delicacy.
Planned were 18 locks, which means hoping and fearing 18 times, will the lock work? I'll keep it short, yes, they all worked, we didn't have much sauerkraut in the water that day, so we only had to revive the impellers once or twice.
Arriving at the destination, our scouted mooring turned out to be a concrete trapezoidal channel, there were rows of anglers sitting there, so we couldn't moor there. The next official mooring place was unreachable at that time, so Heike was finally allowed to unpack the herrings. We moored directly at the sheet pile wall and briefly ran the generator, otherwise it was pure romance.
Christmas dinner, shower, news, and off to bed.
