We haven't quite adjusted to the time change yet this time. Nora was still wide awake at midnight, so we played cards until 1:30 and then slept until after 11 this "morning". I'm glad that we can have breakfast all day here :-)
I was also awake half the night thinking about our travel plans, since unfortunately we can't travel to southern Thailand as originally planned. Even though the storm will have passed by the weekend, there will still be a lot of cleanup work to be done, so there won't be any relaxing beach vacation in the area anytime soon.
So we thought about it and made a decision today. After breakfast, we took a taxi to our airline's office here in Bangkok and rescheduled our flight to Singapore, which we originally would have taken on January 18th, to next Monday. That means we'll be saying goodbye to Thailand soon. We won't be able to explore the Gulf of Thailand on this trip either - maybe it's just not meant to be. Who knows, it may be for the best.
But before we get on the plane on Monday, we'll take the train to Ayutthaya over the weekend, which is about 1.5 hours north of Bangkok and has some temple complexes to offer. And to get Nora excited about so much culture, I booked us a hotel with a pool :-)
In Singapore, I also booked us a hotel right away, so we can relax for the next few days and don't have to worry about further travel planning.
