For several years we have been motorhome enthusiasts. First we drove a Hymer, in a bar version, and then a Frankia double-axle vehicle with a motorcycle platform.
We, that is Hermann and Petra, and our 2 Rhodesian Ridgebacks.
Two years ago, Hermann ended up in the hospital during our vacation and I was left alone with the big 'box'. At that time we were on vacation in Holland at a campsite and had also set up an awning tent. Everything worked out, but not very well.
In addition, retirement was approaching and I wanted a vehicle with a length of 6 meters that I could handle 100% on my own.
Then the idea quickly matured that it should be a panel van. I thought about what kind of campers we actually are. Do we spend a lot of time inside the vehicle? A big NO.
We drive, sleep, and maybe sit in the vehicle in case of rain, otherwise we are outside.
Since we can quickly set up an air tent, it is still possible to sit comfortably there even on colder days.
So it shouldn't just be a panel van, it also had to have longitudinal beds so that we can sleep comfortably, because seating space is not so important for us.
Then the search began, with more wishes, preferably with automatic transmission and diesel heating.
I didn't think it would be that difficult, but then we decided on our Amundsen in October 2019.
