Our first stop was at Wanaka Lake, where there is a tree in the middle of the lake that has taken 70 years to grow so tall. Then we went to Mount Aspring National Park. There we took a 20-minute hike to the Blue Pools. First through a dense forest, then over a suspension bridge and a wooden path down to the Blue Pools. There were stone towers built with stones at the water and everyone was flipping stones. The water was so clear and turquoise. Our journey then took us past Mount Cook on steep and winding roads, towards Greymouth.
