At 9 am we started with a tour of the Sydney Opera House, the landmark of this city. During the tour, we visited the different concert halls and learned about the history and creation of the Sydney Opera House.
It was opened in 1973 by Queen Lisbeth after 14 years of construction and is one of the most distinctive and famous buildings of the 20th century. It was designed by Danish architect Jørn Utzon (1918–2008).
After the tour, we were taken by a water taxi for a scenic flight over Sydney to the seaplane. In Rose Bay, we took off from Australia's first international airport.
We flew over sandstone cliffs protruding from the sea, over the famous Bondi Beach, where surfers in the water wait for the next wave. From Bondi Beach, we returned to the harbor, where we took a roundabout over the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House and made a detour over luxurious homes (real estate value up to 70 million AUD, equivalent to approximately 40 million EUR) of rich and famous personalities, such as Nicole Kidman.
All in all, it was a mega-awesome experience with unforgettable impressions.
In the afternoon, we continued to have lunch in the new harbor district and later strolled to the city center.
Tonight, after a visit to a pub, we packed our bags for the 3-day WayOutback Safari Tour in Uluru/Red Centre (Ayres Rock), which will start tomorrow with a 3.5-hour domestic flight into the interior of the country, and where we are only allowed to bring small luggage.
