5 more days

የታተመ: 10.04.2017

The day X is approaching. After preparing everything in school today so that I can hand it over to my daughter (substitute for my 11 weeks) tomorrow, the awareness of my time is spreading far away in my thoughts. Unstoppable, and that's okay. It's time. Enough thinking, imagining, preparing.

It's time to start, but not right away. No, on Saturday! Until then, there are still many things to do.

Today I took a look at the suitcase with the 'regalos' from Dona Rosa. I'll take the suitcase with me, hand it over to Pablo, Rosa's trusted man in Ecuador, and have no idea what's inside without sniffing around in it myself. I imagine the situation at customs upon arrival: Your suitcase? - Um, ... Yes! No! - What now? Packed by yourself? - No! It's for someone else! - What?! For whom? - For a gentleman named Pablo. - Do you know him? - No! Never seen him. - Do you know what's inside? - No, not a clue. Could be candies, clothes, a bomb...

And that would be the moment when everyone takes cover and the airport is evacuated. My journey would lead me to prison and then, at best, back to Switzerland. Guaranteed article in 20min. Bravo!

So I quickly checked and found that there are all sorts of clothes in it, a woolen scarf, work aprons, knitting needles, oil pastels for painting, even a jacket from the Basel Fire Brigade. I would love to see Beppi's face, who walks around Quito with his camera around his neck and encounters locals who can clearly be identified by their facial expression wearing the Basel Fire Brigade jacket. 'Look at this! An Equatorial Basler! Can I take a picture, please?'

But, it's clear: The jacket is of excellent quality and should not only please the future wearer, but also not greatly irritate them with the given inscription.

Oh yes: At the end of the second to last day of work, there was still time to choose the technical equipment for the school. It shouldn't be as much as before. Back then, when we travelled to the beach for the autumn holidays as if we had to shoot a documentary in the style of an IMAX movie. At least three of the family laptops packed in the luggage, so we could email and work creatively on the beach.

I want to take photos, I want to make calls and send messages to people in Ecuador and communicate with those here, and I want to continue this blog here. Let's see. It should actually work out. I just need to buy a SIM card on site under the most ideal conditions.
