Early morning on 04.05.17 we set off from Bayerisch Gmain towards Croatia. The thermometer kept rising; we thought we would experience similar weather to Germany. But just before the destination: What luck: almost 20°C, blue sky and calm wind.
Our first destination was the island of Krk. Here we chose a mini campsite (about 50 pitches). This is Camp Slamni in the village of Klimno in the northeast of the island, situated in a bay. There we are the only ones :-) in the front row and enjoy the proximity to the water.
At night it started to rain and unfortunately it didn't stop until 11:00 a.m. Positive: The bus and the awning are absolutely watertight; but not our beach tent. It looks like a tent but is more for sun than for water. It had water in it this morning and Steffen dried it out.
When the sun came out, we walked to the bakery together and then had a second breakfast (or was it more like lunch).
Afterwards, it was siesta time for everyone. Hannes and Tina both had a long nap; Steffen read the newspaper and also slept now and then.
When everyone had rested and Hannes was full, we walked to the neighboring town of Solino to find out that there is also nothing going on here. It is absolute pre-season and there are hardly any people here. So there is a lot of peace and quiet here; a bit too much for our taste ;-)
In the evening, Hannes put his feet in the sea for the first time in his life. He clearly had fun :-)
On the campsite, we met a young Swiss couple with four children (three girls, one boy). They have been traveling since November 2016 and have visited Spain and Portugal. With a one-month stopover in their home country, they are now 'on tour' again with a motorhome. They plan to be on the road until November / December. The next destinations are the Scandinavian islands.
The canton of Bern, where they live, has given them permission to homeschool their children. Something that we Germans can only dream of. Really awesome. We wish the six of them a super great time with lots of experiences.
