Today is day 166 of our trip around the world and we still don't regret a single day of our trip. We learned to appreciate life and our comfort even more, got to know new people and foreign cultures, traveled to distant countries and gained many new experiences. We are so happy and grateful that this initial nonsense could actually become reality. We are still full of adventure and curious about the world.
After we were able to hug our friends Dennis and Annick again on day 155 of our trip around the world, despite the many advantages of this trip, we realized how much we miss the feeling of home. We spontaneously rented a beautiful house via the Airbnb platform to compensate for this feeling. We moved in here last Thursday (October 5th, 2023). The house is well equipped and has a beautiful garden. Our personal highlight is the sofa. Here we can finally spend cozy evenings again, watch series, read and relax. For the last few months this has only been possible in bed. We find our rental car, which we rented for shopping and excursions, to be pure luxury.
After we had a few nice moments with Dennis and Annick, we had to say goodbye again on Saturday. Madlin found it difficult to say goodbye.
We spend our days very relaxed. We explore the area, cook, sleep late, chill in the garden and go to the beach every day. The people of Zanzibar are very friendly, open-minded and always up for small talk. Sometimes we get involved in sales conversations, sometimes our origins are the subject of the conversation. Today Madlin met her African friend Peter Pan on the beach. When Madlin bought an anklet from him, he was overjoyed and gave her a bracelet as a thank you.
The time in our house is coming to an end. Our energy stores are full and we are ready for new adventures. On Sunday we leave Zanzibar and take the ferry to the mainland - to the city of Dar Es Salaam. We stay here for three nights to visit the city. On Wednesday we pick up our new rental car and start our thirteen-day road trip through Tanzania - our destination is Lake Victoria. We are currently very concerned with the events taking place in Afghanistan and Israel. We follow the news every day and find out even better than before about the security situation in the countries we travel to.
Our road trip ends again in Dar Es Salaam on October 30, 2023. Unfortunately we cannot take the car across the border to Kenya and drop it off in Nairobi. For this reason, we are flying to Nairobi on October 31, 2023, although we don't think it's a good idea due to the environment. A day later we can hug Madlin's parents and together we can fulfill our dream of a safari.
