Take a walk through the capital San Jose - Ein Spaziergang durch die Hauptstadt San Jose

የታተመ: 03.11.2017

After a long and sleepless night, we finally arrived in San Jose at 5:40 local time. Since there was no bus station in sight, we treated ourselves to a taxi. The taxi driver undoubtedly took advantage of us :/

Our hostel with the beautiful name 'In the wind' is run by a really nice drop-out from the USA. This is especially noticeable in her fabulous pancakes. mhhh.. :)

Our hostel is located in the modern district of San Pedro, where there are not only the university but also countless trendy and new shops.

After a short break, we set out to walk through the center of San Jose, always with the goal of finding the Mercado Central to finally eat something.

Just like in many southern countries, honking is also an integral part of driving in San Jose. Zebra crossings are rare here, so the locals follow the traffic lights across the street regardless of the color.

We pass by the peaceful Parque Nacional, as well as the city's landmark, the Teatro Nacional, with the Plaza de la Cultura. Through a shopping street, we arrive directly at the Mercado Central. It is located in a huge hall. Countless small stands form an opaque maze with narrow passages. You can buy everything here from groceries (fruits, fish, meat, hot meals), pet food, flowers, souvenirs, cribs, and Christmas decorations.

Yes, that's right, there are Christmas trees and life-sized Santa Clauses in every store here too. Finally, we ate delicious empanadas, which are filled corn pastries with meat, vegetables, or cheese. Yummy!!
