to the Rocca Rossa

Soon after arriving at my new accommodation in Campeyre, I continued up the valley to the Agnello Pass, which, at over 2,700m, is the third-highest paved mountain pass in the Alps. The scenery is simply breathtaking.

My plan was to climb one of the nearby peaks from the pass, which, given the high altitude, was quite feasible as a half-day tour. I chose the Rocca Rossa (3,180m), so I had about 500 meters of elevation to gain. Initially, the path was clearly visible and easy to follow, but as I gained altitude, the route vanished beneath the fresh snow that had fallen in the days prior. However, after some searching, I did find a way to the summit, of course with a fantastic view of the sunny high alpine landscape. However, the wind was blowing so fiercely at about 60 km/h that I decided to start my descent after just a few minutes.
